Master painting in the Art Institute of Chicago

This new edition of a favourite volume presents 149 of the Art Institute’s treasured European and American paintings, from the Renaissance to the 1990s, with each work reproduced in full colour and accompanied by a short, engaging text. A generous sampling of the museum’s world-renowned collection of French Impressionist paintings is featured, along with many earlier European examples, from Renaissance panels and singular pieces by the Old Masters to eighteenth- and nineteenth-century American paintings, and twentieth-century works by artists from Matisse to Close.
